How Long Will This Take?

A real talk timeline for your design or renovation project

You’re dreaming of a new space. You’re excited. Motivated. Maybe even already shopping for throw pillows.

And then the question hits:
“Wait… how long is this actually going to take?”

The answer? It depends—but not in a frustrating way. It depends on the scope, the team, the decisions, and sometimes even the weather (lookin’ at you, Austin thunderstorms). But I’m here to give you a clear picture of what to expect—so you can plan, prep, and breathe easy knowing you’re not behind.

🛋️ For a Room Refresh (4–6 weeks)

This includes things like styling, rearranging, paint updates, new furniture, and maybe a few light installs. Perfect for spaces that just need a little love—not a demo day.

What makes it faster: No major trades involved, furniture in stock, quick decision-making.
What slows it down: Custom orders, backordered items, shipping delays (hi again, Austin).

For a Remodel or Renovation (8–20+ weeks)

Now we’re talking bigger changes—walls moving, cabinets swapping, bathrooms getting their glow-up. This takes more coordination, permitting (if needed), and trade schedules.

What makes it faster: Pre-selected finishes, a tight contractor schedule, no permit surprises.
What slows it down: Change orders, structural surprises, permit delays, or waiting for that tile to arrive from Italy.

What Most People Don’t Factor In:

  • Decision-making time. Picking paint colors is easy. Picking 12 finishes that all work together? Not so much.

  • Lead times. Custom furniture, lighting, or cabinetry can take 6–12+ weeks. Planning ahead is key.

  • Life. Kids get sick. Guests come early. Spring break happens. The world keeps spinning, and that’s okay.

💬 Final Thoughts

Here’s the truth: beautiful, functional spaces take time. But they’re so worth the wait.

My job is to guide you through it all—creating a plan, managing the moving parts, and making sure we don’t just finish… we finish well.

And when it’s done? You’ll walk into a space that was absolutely worth every week on the calendar.
